Track & Field Coaches
TROY ANDERSON: HEAD BOYS COACH/ HEAD DISTANCE COACH
Coach Troy, who is also the head cross country coach, has been at Eastlake since 2001. He and his wife Jody have built one of the premier distance programs in the state. During his coaching tenure EHS has won three girls state cross country titles and has coached a large number of athletes who have gone on to compete collegiately, many at the Division 1 level. He has also been named State Coach of the Year numerous times. All runners, whether they are an elite athlete pursuing a college career or a new comer to the sport, have felt welcomed and have excelled with Coach Troy.
NANCY PIXLER: HEAD GIRLS COACH/ ASSISTANT DISTANCE COACH
Coach Pixler joined the coaching staff in 2012. She brought with her years of experience, both as a distance runner at the University of Colorado where she was an all Big 8 conference runner in the 1500m, 3000m and 5000m, as well as the added experience of raising four children who all competed in athletics at the college level. Coach Pixler understands many of the injuries that runners face and also the challenges of balancing student-athlete responsibilities.
DIRK HUEBNER: HEAD SPRINTS COACH
Coach Huebner was named head sprints coach in 2016. He has developed many athletes as an elite performance trainer for over 20 years, and has been at Eastlake High School since 2005. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and has his CSCS, USAW, ACE and USATF certifications. He is currently the WA State Director for the National High School Strength and Conditioning Association. He specializes in speed development and has worked with many high school, collegiate, and NFL players. Coach Huebner is extremely dedicated to developing and nurturing the "whole" athlete.
MIKE POOLE: POLE VAULT COACH
Since taking over the pole vault coaching role in 2015, Coach Poole has transformed the program and has created one of the top pole vault communities in the state. His work ethic and dedication to the student athletes is inspiring. He has the rare ability to coach vaulters at every level, from the beginner to the elite. Eastlake has crowned two state champions under his tenure.
JEFF HUNTER: HURDLES COACH
Coach Hunter has been sharing his wealth of experience and passion for coaching with Eastlake since 2017. Hunter was an elite hurdler both in high school in the highly competitive state of California where he held a state record, and in the Pac 10 where he was an all conference hurdler and a member of the 4x100m relay at the University of Arizona. Coach Hunter, who also teaches science at Eastlake and has quickly become one of the premier hurdle coaches in the state.
JODY ANDERSON: ASSISTANT DISTANCE COACH
Coach Jody, who also serves as the head girls cross country coach, has been with Eastlake since 2002. She was recently named the WIAA State Coach of the year for her third girl's State Cross Country title. She has spent years developing an exceptional strength and injury prevention program for the distance runners. She has also shared her amazing artistic abilities with the team by creating many of the t-shirt designs that the athletes don.
DRAY BAILEY: ASSISTANT SPRINTS COACH
Coach Bailey has been coaching Eastlake sprinters since 2017. A certified personal trainer and former University of Eastern Washington athlete, Coach Dray specializes in strength and conditioning and starting block technique. He has a Masters degree in Exercise Science and his USAW and ACE certifications.
MATT PIRIE: ASSISTANT SPRINTS COACH/ JAVELIN
Coach Pirie, who is in his second year at Eastlake, has been coaching high school track for five years. He assists in the sprints and coaches the javelin. A PE and weights teacher at EHS, Pirie has a degree in Kinesiology and a M. Ed. Prior to teaching Coach Pirie was a strength and conditioning coach at Washington State University.
KIERA WILLIAMS: HEAD JUMPS COACH/ASSISTANT SPRINTS COACH
Kiera Williams, who grew up on the plateau, was a star athlete at Skyline High School. Williams was an elite soccer player who went on to play at Arizona State University, and also excelled on the track competing in the sprints and all of the jumps. She is the head jumps coach as well as an assistant sprints coach.
LESLIE BARBER: HEAD THROWS COACH
Coach Leslie Barber who is beginning her second year at EHS, heads up the throws program. Barber brings a wealth of experience as a national caliber age group and high school discus thrower. A prolific young thrower who set her high school record in the discus as a middle schooler, also competed in the shot and javelin. She went on to row for the University of Washington and competed in cycling and triathlons post collegiately.
THOMAS KIDD: ASSISTANT SPRINTS/ASSISTANT JUMPS
The EHS coaching staff warmly welcomes Thomas Kidd as an assistant to both the sprints and jumps programs! A PE teacher at Eastlake, Coach Kidd has a BS in Kinesiology and a Masters in Athletic Training. Prior to his teaching career, Kidd was an athletic trainer in the NFL, SEC and at Seattle Children's Hospital.
LISA CRAIG: ASSISTANT THROWS
The Eastlake Coaching Staff is happy to announce that Lisa Craig, who served as a volunteer for the throws program last year, will assume an assistant coach's role this year. Craig, who threw the shot put and discus in high school, is an Eastlake parent who has two sons on the team. She also is a para at Inglewood Middle School.
CURTIS MCCARSON: MEET MANAGER
A 2010 Eastlake graduate, Curtis ran both track and cross country as a wolf. In addition to relating well to young runners, Coach McCarson has taken over the role of managing the home meets and running the automated timing system. He is also a certified USATF official.
ABRAHAM KIPLAGAT: VOLUNTEER DISTANCE COACH
Abraham Kiplagat, who serves as a volunteer distance coach at EHS, was a member of the Kenyan national team when he won a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games. He also ran in the race where the world record was set in the 800m in 2010, finishing in a personal record of 1:43.77.
